Fresh Friday 1 - Lexis

The first series I'm going to introduce to the blog is 'Fresh Fridays'! :D

This is where I'm going to talk about a new, fresh name that I've never heard of/thought about before and discuss it! I'll do this every Friday and I hope you'll enjoy it :)

So today's Fresh Friday name is...

LEXIS

I came across this name earlier today when I found a YouTuber called Lexis, and I thought it was such a cool name! Now, the YouTuber was male, but after researching the name a little I found that it is most commonly used as a girl's name, and I understand this now as it sounds like female names such as Alexa, Alexis, Lexie etc.

But, personally, I think it's better suited to men. Maybe this is just because the first person I found with this name was a man, but to me it sounds so powerful and masculine, whilst also being really unique and cool.

Lexis means "man's defender"

This obviously also adds to the masculinity of the name.

The name Lexis is a variant of the name Lexer which I also LOVE! I think this may just be because Lexer is of German/Greek origin and I ADORE anything to do with Greece - Greek names and mythological names are my favourite! :p I also really like how Lexis has the letter 'x' in it. I just think it makes the name so cool!

Other variants to the name are Lexus, Lexo and Lex. I really like Lexus as well as Lexis and Lexer, and can definately see myself using this name later on in life to name my child! :) Lexis is an uncommon name in the U.K. which really appeals to me as I don't want a child of mine to be one of many Olivers or Jacks... even though I do like those names! :D

I've always been interested in the meanings of names, why parents choose specific names for their children, and also the popularity of different names... which is why I've started this blog!
